Have you recently welcomed the pitter patter of tiny puppy feet into your home? We know you want to do all that you possibly can to take care of your fluffy little bundle of joy, but it can be hard to know where to start! Don’t worry - that’s where we’re here to help.
Does my puppy need vaccinations?
Yes, we’d always recommend vaccinations. They keep your puppy safe from potentially fatal diseases. We routinely vaccinate against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis and Parvovirus. We also recommend the kennel cough vaccination for dogs which come into contact with lots of other dogs (e.g. during training classes, on busy walks etc.)
I haven’t seen any fleas or worms - do I still need to treat?
Intestinal parasites may not necessarily be visible to the naked eye, so it can be hard to tell if your puppy has worms. We recommend monthly worming until 6 months of age. Fleas can make our canine companions miserable. Keep pesky parasites at bay by regularly treating for both fleas and worms.
What about microchipping?
It’s a legal requirement to have your puppy microchipped. Aside from that, microchipping gives you peace of mind that, should your pup ever wander a little too far as they explore the big wide world, you have the best possible chance of being quickly reunited. We know how heartbreaking it is when people lose their pets and never know what happened to them; microchipping prevents this and is a permanent form of identification.
