Vaccination Amnesty June 2010

Posted 1st June 2010

We are urging our clients to take advantage of our vaccination amnesty in June 2010 after shock statistics revealed a high proportion of the nation’s pets remain unvaccinated.

A national survey has indicated that up to 3 million dogs (46 per cent of the UK population), more than 6 million cats (77 per cent) and 1.8 million rabbits (90 per cent) are currently unvaccinated, or have “lapsed” since their initial vaccinations.

As a result, they lack immunity to potentially fatal diseases like parvovirus in dogs, cat flu in cats and myxomatosis in rabbits which kill many thousands of pets in the UK every year.

The figures have been released by Intervet, after a nationwide computer-based survey of animal disease awareness.

*At Hampton Park Vets, dogs and cats receive a full vaccination course for the price of a booster in June.

* Rabbits will received a free dose of Myxomatosis vaccine six months after the initial dose.

* Open to dogs and cats that have not been vaccinated in the last 18 months and rabbits that have not been vaccinated in the last 9 months.
